|aAfter Polish-born Chopin refuses to perform for the Czarist governor, he and his mentor Prof. Eisner, flee to Paris. There, the handsome musician begins a stormy affair with the brilliant authoress George Sand, who encourages his composing. The liaison is threatened, however, when Chopin embarks on a concert to raise funds for Polish rebels, even though he's stricken with tuberculosis.
