|aIn recent years, higher education courses that combines professional knowledge with industry skills have been promoted by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education. Languages for Special Purposes courses have been offered. The Economist rated Spanish the most influential business language of the last five decades. This enthusiam for learning Spanish has swept from Europe to Asia. Literature analysis and a survey were performed to investigate the motivations of and disturbances facing business Spanish students in this research. This study explored the motivacions of students in Taiwan who study business Spanish. Additionally, the factors behind disturbances in learning process were analyzed, and their correlation with increased opportunities in employment and scholarship was explored. This study determined that, first, learners’ personal factors are positively related to motivation, and that the major factor is lacking the habit to prepare for and review lessons. Second, the factor family is weakly correlated with learning motivation. The third factor, school is positively related to motivation. This study futher determined that business Spanish courses face two problems: the motivation and interest of students are indefinite; therefore, their learning enthusiasm is low and, for both teachers and students, teaching hours are too insufficient. However, motivation is the foundation of learning effectiveness, teachers can assist students to plan their career. Moreover, they can reinforce the practicality of their teaching materials to enable learners to obtain the necessary knowledge and skills in the limited time they have and thus ensure superior learning effectiveness..
