|aArgentina was one of the richest countries in the world; however, the economic performance of this country was unstable during the late 20th century, specifically, and Argentina became a country with a lot of debt. Moreover, because previous governments could not take effective measures, an economic crisis erupted in 2001. This crisis affected not only the economy, but also influenced politics and society, generating a lot of problems such as unemployment, a high rate of poverty, political conflicts, social protests, etc. These problems were eventually resolved after Kirchner took office in 2003. In his mandate, the President united the party and consolidated his power through winning the legislative elections. Kirchner implemented many social and economic measures to improve the development of the society and the economy, which brought the country out of the financial crisis. In foreign relations, Kirchner’s government turned away from the United States to regain their autonomy and reduce American intervention. Also, Kirchner tried to strengthen collaboration in the region of South America, especially with Brazil and Venezuela. This thesis will analyze whether those implementations, which were carried out by Kirchner between 2003 and 2007, were successful in significantly improving Argentina’s politics, society, economic and foreign relations. This thesis is divided into three chapters: politics and society, the economy, and foreign relations with United States and Mercosur, specifically Brazil and Venezuela, during Kirchner’s government. According to historical events and data related to the above-mentioned topics, we then made a conclusion in response to the above question..
